NAM – NON-ALIGNED MOVEMENT

*In co-production with City Of Women – Association for the Promotion of Women in Culture

NAM – Non Aligned Movement brings together the choreographer and dancer Christian Guerematchi and the vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Shishani. The title of the piece draws inspiration from the Non-Aligned Movement which in the 1960s played an important part in the process of decolonization and independence movements in the so-called third-world countries. NAM – Non Aligned Movement is an artistic search for the black European identity and research of codes of the black body. The choreographer Christian Guerematchi and the musician Shishani both have roots in Europe and Africa. They take inspiration from their backgrounds and the movements and sounds of the African diaspora. In NAM, they embark on an epic and Afro-futuristic journey to the Balkans.
