SIGRID STIGSDATTER MATHIASSEN:
CALL ME
Sigrid Stigsdatter Mathiassen, for whom this will be the third appearance at Spider Festival, travels through dance with an open heart and a critical mind seeking to tell stories from the place where reality meets fantasy and fiction. A Danish-born artist based between Amsterdam and Copenhagen, Sigrid works with choreography, performance, singing, and writing. The piece Call Me can be understood as a mixtape of feelings, ideas, thoughts, and dreams on and along topics of future female erotics, sensuality, finding pleasure in pain, and the subversion of power and relationships, between each other, the audience and the performer, the art market and the artist, the heart and the mind. Through waves, collapsing bodies, catty movements, songs, quotes, and jumps they create a world where dance is gross and glossy, complicit and tender, disturbing and healing.
